The fate line on the palm — your path, work and sense of direction

The fate line, also called the line of Saturn, runs vertically through the middle of the palm, from the wrist towards the middle finger. It describes your life path and career, duties and sense of direction. Not everyone has one — and having no fate line does not mean having no fate, only more freedom in choosing your path.

Where the fate line starts

  • From the life line — a path built through your own work, often with family support or within a family tradition.
  • From the centre of the palm, above the wrist — independence; a direction chosen early and followed consistently.
  • From the mount of the Moon (the lower edge of the palm) — a path in which other people play a big role: the public, clients, partners.
  • Only from the middle of the palm — a direction found later, in mature years.

Where it ends

A fate line reaching the mount of Saturn means work that over time becomes a vocation. When it ends at the heart line, tradition says that feelings and loved ones guide the choice of path. When it ends at the head line — that important career decisions are made by reason, sometimes at the expense of the heart.

Breaks and changes of direction

A break in the fate line is a change of job or profession. When the new segment starts beside the old one before it ends, the change is prepared and calm. Many small segments mean a path made of several stages — increasingly common today.

No fate line

Many people have no clear fate line. Palmistry reads this as a life without a script imposed from above: more freedom, but also more responsibility for your own choices. Such people often do well working for themselves.

The fate line and Saturn in the birth chart

Saturn is the planet of work, time and duty — on the hand and in the sky. In VesicaKarma the fate line is compared with Saturn in the birth chart, especially its position in the houses of work. When both records are strong, career is a clear theme of life.

Frequently asked questions

What does having no fate line mean?

Not a lack of fate, but more freedom: a life without an imposed script, in which you choose your own path. Often seen in self-employed people.

What does a double fate line mean?

Two parallel fate lines are traditionally read as two paths followed at once — for example two professions, or work and an important passion.

Can the fate line appear later?

Yes. The fate line is one of the lines that change the most — it often becomes clearer when someone finds their direction.
